Casting the Rapists

After continuously watching over the auditions in order to choose wisely about who the parts should be distributed to I strongly felt that Peter and Justin were the best choices to for the main rapist parts just because I knew that the girl playing the victim wouldn't feel too uncomfortable around these two also because of the fact that they had the confidence that we needed the characters to have.

I believe that when it came to casting the rapists it took a lot of contemplating because we couldn't come to an agreement on who to choose. After a lot of convincing and explaining why we felt each one was meant for the part we came to a solid conclusion in who to pick, which were Peter, Justin and Dom. At the end of the day the choice that we made for the rapists seemed to have been the best decision we made for the casting of the characters. They all made the parts seem natural throughout the whole film and were able to remain confident throughout the whole film which was a positive for everyone and also took some stress off of the whole camera crew.

Casting Evelyn

Lee was one of the females that came to auditions and was the one that received the part as Evelyn. Evelyn is the girl that Gus (the main character at the party) seems to have a thing for. i believe that the main reason why we decided to make Lee our Evelyn was because of her confidence in front of the camera and the way that she approached the part for the role, I felt that Lee was the one that made it feel natural the most out of all of the girls who did come to auditions. I feel satisfied with the choice that we made when it came to casting her as Evelyn. I believe that she was another help when it came to the film and made it run smoother as the night continued on.

Casting the Dad

On the day of filming we had to do a bit of improving which became successful thanks to BJ who was another person that came for auditions and received the role as the father. Looking back at the script then watching the way that we filmed it I feel that the way we filmed it on the day was a better choice then the shot of just the hand holding the remote. Although BJ was the father he stilled played parts as an extra in some of the other scenes as well.

I do believe that casting BJ as the father and having him as apart of the extras playing in the background was a well thought out idea even if it did only involve the back of him most of the time.

Casting Gus

Although there were quite a few people to choose from for the role of Gus, Debs and I felt that Jentle was the best choice for the role not only because of the fact that he's a performing artist but also because he was the one that made his role look natural the most. Everyone that was there to watch his auditions already felt that he was the perfect choice for the role of Gus because of how well he did. One of the main reasons why I chose Jentle to play as Gus was because of the fact that he was able to make it look natural and be able to get into character well. I felt that he would be the one that helps us the most when it came to filming because we wouldn't really have any difficulties with trying to explain parts to certain people.

I honestly do believe that we made the best choice with choosing Jentle to play as our Gus. He made filming that whole day much more simple and on top of that he was a helping hand with everything that was going on and off set.

Auditions

Audition:

Derrhys Fong
Mercy Avealalo

Djay came and auditioned for every part there was for a male to do. He did well for a person that has never auditioned for an acting part before and for a person that was nervous about it from the beginning. Mercy also did well, she auditioned for the every part there were for a female which included being the victim and Evelyn.

Djay became our main characters friend for our film and did extremely well, he was also grateful for the opportunity and felt overwhelmed by the opportunity. Mercy however didn't receive a main part but was there to play as an extra and did very well with that also.

Auditions Planned Out.

After trying to plan out everything that needed to be done within the weeks that we have left of school, I realised that the auditions would need to be set as soon as possible but also at a time that people would be available to attend. We were able to reach a good amount of people with the posters by posting them up around the Otara shopping center and also sharing it with everyone on Facebook. It was pleasing seeing people show up to auditions for the film because it gave us hope that our hard work was actually paying off.

Research

I found this video through youtube and thought that the video had a solid concept behind it. Not only was the film shot nicely but they filmed it in a way that they could capture the attention of both the adults and children. Thinking back to our childhood memories when ever you felt threatened as a child you would always visualise a monster.

Watching this video reminds me of the children that are usually afraid of the monsters under their bed or in their closets. The reason why I'm reminded of that is because it's the children that can see the monsters around and know that they're there but the adults aren't aware of it. Like in the video, the adults (monsters) go on about their lives with the children acting as if nothing is wrong because they can't see what their doing wrong.
